What is a Key Topic? If my proposed research does not align with one of the four Key Topics, can I still apply to the 2023 BPS PFA?

In addition to the eight topic themes, PCORI seeks applications related to four ongoing key topics—improving outcomes for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD); preventing maternal morbidity and mortality (MMM); COVID-19; and rare diseases. Research to improve outcomes for people with IDD and prevent MMM represent ongoing priorities named in PCORI’s 2019 authorizing legislation.

2023 BPS applicants will be asked to select any key topic to which their research best aligns, as applicable. Submissions are not limited to key topics. In keeping with past cycles, the BPS PFA welcomes all investigator-initiated comparative clinical effectiveness research.
