Which outcomes should be included? 

Applications should propose well-justified maternal health outcomes that are clinically meaningful and important to patients and other stakeholders. Examples of outcomes include composite outcomes (e.g., severe maternal morbidity, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, or other); gestational diabetes mellitus; excess gestational weight gain; depression; anxiety; suicidality; substance use; and violence. 

Applicants are strongly encouraged to include well-validated outcome measures in the following areas: healthcare utilization; quality of care; health-related quality of life; healthcare patient activation; respectful care; patient satisfaction with and experience of care, including experience of racism, discrimination, and bias; and social determinants of health.
