Should applicants involve actual patients as partners in our project or would partnership with an advocacy group, not a specifically identified patient, be sufficient? 

Patient advocacy organizations can play a valuable role in projects, as can individual patients. What is most important is to secure the viewpoint of patients from your population of interest and to ensure that the involvement of your patient or patient advocate partners is meaningful and authentic.
