What aspects of the study should include stakeholder input?

There are a variety of approaches to engaging patient and stakeholder partners in research. Patients and stakeholders can collaborate on refining study questions and design, refining outcome measures and study protocols, assisting with recruitment strategies and informed consent processes, and interpreting the data collected. Much like the approaches, there is also variability with respect to the level or intensity in which partners are engaged. Engagement often occurs along a continuum ranging from stakeholder input to consultation to collaboration or shared leadership.
