What Is The Difference Between Cost-Effectiveness Analysis And Cost Analysis?

Cost-effectiveness analysis is an analytic tool in which costs and effects of a program and at least one alternative are calculated and presented in a ratio of incremental cost to incremental effect.  Effects are health outcomes, such as cases of a disease prevented or quality-adjusted life years.  Cost analysis breaks down the costs of an operation and reports on each factor separately.
