My BPS LOI was accepted and I was invited to submit my application under Category 1 (proposed budget less than or equal to $5 million); however, our proposed budget increased in preparing our application. Can I submit my full application under Category 2?

PCORI understands that the budget provided during LOI submission is an estimate and that the budget may change by the time of application submission.   

All Assessment of Prevention, Diagnosis, and Treatment Options; Improving Healthcare Systems; and Addressing Disparities applicants are permitted to submit their full application to either Category, regardless of what was approved at the LOI stage.  Prior approval from PCORI is not required.   

Communication and Dissemination Research applicants are permitted to submit only under Category 1. Applications to this national priority research area that have budgets exceeding $5 million in direct costs will not be accepted for review.
