PCORI Help Center

What does PCORI consider sufficient evidence of efficacy for strategies addressing the impact of COVID-19?

PCORI expects that the efficacy or effectiveness of each intervention be known, so that whether a new comparative effectiveness study is appropriate can be determined. The absence of efficacy data is allowable if there’s evidence of common use for addressing COVID-19. Also, if the existing evidence base regarding the intervention(s) for COVID-19 is limited, as might be expected, it is acceptable to show evidence of efficacy for a particular intervention in a different disease where some theoretical and/or biological propositions for its use for COVID-19 may be justified.
