Through this PFA, PCORI seeks to fund patient-centered comparative effectiveness research (CER) or descriptive studies that can form the basis for a CER question (e.g., describing treatments being used and outcomes). The studies should be retrospective or prospective observational cohort studies that will answer one or more important questions about the treatment or management of patients with rare disease. Investigators applying for PCORI funding must make the case that the study addresses a realistic clinical choice and decisional dilemma faced by patients and providers. Applicants are encouraged to speak with a Program Officer regarding their idea(s) prior to submitting a Letter of Intent. To contact PCORI regarding a research idea, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
