Can I use a tool/resource that I did not develop?

  • However, there must be explicit permission provided for you to use the resource/tool from the original PL/PI who developed that tool/resource in the form of a Letter of Support. The applicant must provide a Letter of Support from the relevant copyright owner of the tool or resource. This will typically be from the awardee institution of the original PCORI award project team. The Letter of Support should grant approval to use, and if applicable, adapt the tool or resource. This additional Letter of Support does not count toward the five-letter maximum.
  • The PL/PI must grant the applicant rights to the engagement tool(s)/resource(s) sufficient to carry out the project. PCORI is not responsible for facilitating the connection between applicants and content creators.
